A parish judge yesterday gave the green light for prominent attorney-at-law Patrick Bailey to stand trial for conspiracy to defraud a St Catherine man, Stafford Dixon, of his 22-acre property.

Senior Parish Judge Tara Carr yesterday signed the indictment order which prevented the trial from commencing last week.

"Prosecutors have satisfied me that there is sufficient basis to grant the indictment order," Carr ruled in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

Following her ruling, details of the offence were read to Bailey and he entered a plea of not guilty. The trial is scheduled to start June 15.

The trial was scheduled to start last Thursday, but was left in limbo after Bailey's legal team took issue with the indictment order prosecutors presented in court.

They argued that it was flawed and urged Carr not to sign the document.
