Jamaican returns for top job at Digicel
Justin Morin has been appointed as the first Jamaican national in the role of chief executive officer (CEO) for Digicel Jamaica. He takes over from outgoing CEO David Butler, who leaves Digicel to return to his native Ireland.
Morin will have oversight of all operational and business excellence and will lead the team in delivering a superior network and amazing experiences to customers, according to a statement from the telecommunications company.
Bringing more than 17 years' experience to the role, Morin has served in various capacities across multiple industries, including telecommunications, finance, fast-moving consumer goods, and manufacturing.
Morin joins Digicel from Saudi Telecom, the leading telecommunications group in the Middle East, where he served as director for corporate strategy.
Prior to that, the St George's old boy spent seven years at GraceKennedy, having joined in 2000.
"I'm honoured and thrilled to be joining Digicel, especially now when it's transforming for the future. It's an exciting time for Digicel and our customers, and I'm looking forward to working with an already fantastic team to deliver a superior network, compelling content, and amazing experiences to our customers," said Morin, excited about his new role and the opportunity to rekindle his family connections.
Vanessa Slowey, CEO for Digicel Caribbean and Central America, stated: "Justin has a wealth of experience and a depth of knowledge in telecommunications, and I'm delighted to be welcoming him to the team. As a returning Jamaican, he will bring a fresh perspective to our team at a time when we're well advanced on our 2030 transformation journey. I am confident that Justin will take Digicel Jamaica to the next level, ensuring the best communications and entertainment experience for all our customers."
