JTA president Georgia Waugh-Richards ... the government has not yet re-engaged teachers in further negotiations.

Public school teachers are reportedly restive over what the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) is calling the protracted delay in restarting salary negotiations for the 2017-2019 contract period.

In a media release today, the JTA said it was concerned about the delay.

In August, the association received the initial offer from the government and rejected it.

The JTA says the government has not yet re-engaged teachers in further negotiations.

It is urging the Ministry of Finance to this week indicate when negotiations will resume.
