MoBay to get bypass

Construction of a bypass for Montego Bay, St James, is expected to begin next year, according to Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

Currently, the Government is negotiating a loan with China to carry out the work in the Second City.

Holness told Labourites yesterday at the Jamaica Labour Party's 74th annual conference at the National Arena in Kingston that his administration would be engaging China Harbour Engineering Company Limited to look at the project.

"I am pleased to report to you that ... we have settled the alignment of the road. We have started the process of negotiating the loan from China to actually build the road, and we expect to start construction on the by-pass for Montego Bay come next year."
