Delays on Mandela Highway this weekend
Motorists using the Mandela Highway this weekend may experience slight delays when using the westbound carriageway. The westbound carriageway takes vehicular traffic from the direction of Kingston towards Spanish Town.
Manager, communication and customer services at the National Works Agency Stephen Shaw said that traffic could be affected when using the section of the corridor in the vicinity of the Jamaica Public Service Duhaney Substation.
He said that the work to be undertaken this weekend is a continuation of last weekend's effort to facilitate the laying of conduits to accommodate JPS's high-voltage cables. The cables are being put underground in order to facilitate the retirement of wooden poles that are within the right of way of the expanded Mandela Highway.
Shaw said that the exercise would commence at 9 p.m. on Saturday and is expected to be completed by midday on Sunday.
The motoring public is being urged to obey the instructions of flag-persons and posted warning signs and to use alternative routes, if they so desire, in order to reduce the likelihood of delays getting into and out of the city of Kingston.
