Police warn against buying tainted sheep meat

Published:Tuesday | March 20, 2018 | 10:37 AM

The Praedial Larceny Prevention Unit in the Agriculture Ministry is warning members of the public, especially residents of Clarendon, to be cautions when buying meat.

The warning follows reports by the Four Paths Police that seven sheep were stolen from the Ebony Park HEART Academy in the parish between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.

The farm supervisor at the academy reported that the fencing to the property was destroyed by praedial thieves who stole the sheep.

The unit says the sheep were medicated a few hours before they were stolen and as such the meat is unfit for human consumption.

It is reported that the sheep are valued approximately $280,000.

The Praedial Larceny Prevention Unit is urging members of the public to only buy meat from reputable sources.
