Dr Peter Phillips, president of the People's National Party, yesterday led a high-level delegation to Havana, Cuba, to attend the Sao Paulo Forum, under the theme 'Latin American and Caribbean Unity'.

The forum, which brings together a grouping of progressive parties from the Caribbean and Latin American region, will discuss ideas relating to the social and economic advancement of the peoples of the region.

Since its inception in 1990, the forum has maintained its focus on the pursuit of an alternative development model underpinned by social justice. One of its key goals has been the debate about regional integration, with the clear objective of developing stronger bonds between Latin American and Caribbean countries.

Phillips is accompanied by Julian Robinson, PNP general secretary, and Lisa Hanna, shadow minister of foreign affairs and foreign trade.
