Three dead in Porus crash
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of three men in a motor vehicle collision along the Whitefield main road in Porus, Manchester, were under way yesterday.
The dead men have been identified as Delroy Lindsay, 36-year-old construction worker of Strickland district in Melrose, Manchester; 29-year-old Oshane Walters, a labourer, also of Melrose; and 42-year-old Derrick Salmon of an address that up to yesterday evening had not yet been ascertained.
In a release, the Constabulary Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force said it was reported that at about 12:00 a.m., Lindsay, who was driving a white Toyota Corolla motor car, was heading towards Clarendon when it is alleged that he overtook a line of traffic and crashed into a BMW motor car on the opposite side of the road. Both motor vehicles were extensively damaged. Walters and Salmon, who were passengers in the Corolla along with the driver, were pinned and later removed by members of the Manchester Fire Department.
All three men were taken to hospital, where their deaths were confirmed. The driver and a passenger in the BMW motor car did not sustain any serious injuries.
