Police seize 15 illegal guns in three days, several people arrested
The police are reporting that within 72 hours, they have seized 15 illegal firearms and more than 140 rounds of ammunition.
According to the Constabulary Communications Network, several persons have been arrested in connection with the seizures.
"We will continue to improve on our investigative capabilities as we serve, protect and reassure the citizens of this country,” said Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson in commending cops for the seizures.
The weapons seizures:
*Three firearms – one 12 gauge shotgun along with nine 12-gauge cartridges and two 9mm pistols along with four 9mm rounds of ammunition – seized in Rose Heights, St James.
*One 9mm pistol along with five 9mm rounds of ammunition found on Norman Manley Boulevard in Westmoreland.
*Three firearms – one Bryco 9mm pistol, two Berretta 9mm pistols along with thirty-five 9mm rounds of ammunition – seized during the State of Public Emergency in Kingston.
*One Askel .45 semi-automatic pistol along with three .45 rounds of ammunition seized in St. Elizabeth.
*One 9mm Beretta pistol along with seventeen 9mm rounds of ammunition found on Wallen Parkway in St. Catherine.
*One AK-47 rifle found on Marie Drive in Waterhouse, Kingston 11.
*One Hi-point Luger 9mm pistol along with eight 9mm rounds of ammunition found on Williams Street in Kingston.
*One 9mm pistol along with thirteen 9mm rounds of ammunition found along the Four Paths Main Road in Clarendon.
*One AK-47 rifle along with twenty-six 5.56 rounds of ammunition seized in Land Lease, Papine, Kingston 6.
*One M4 Rifle containing five rounds of ammunition seized during an operation in an area called ‘Zambia’ in Central Village in St. Catherine
*One Detonics 9mm pistol along with one magazine and fifteen 9mm cartridges seized in Linstead, St. Catherine.
