UDC promises exciting New Year's Eve fireworks and family fun day
The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) is promising an exciting New Year's Eve fireworks and family fun day for the Kingston Waterfront and the Ocho Rios Bay Beach in St Ann.
The events begins at 3 p.m.
This year, the events will be hosted under the theme: 'Feel the Magic, Be the GLOW.'
The UDC says there will be the usual kiddies’ village with games, rides, storytelling and face painting; the vending village for vendors with culinary offerings and craft; a street party and stage show featuring guest DJs followed by the highly anticipated fireworks display.
"Fireworks on the Waterfront has become a staple event for many families across Jamaica and to host an event which caters to over 300,000 persons requires that the processes be continually reviewed to ensure customer satisfaction,” said Lorna Clarke, director of communication at the UDC.
She said this year, the UDC has implemented a few changes to enhance the fireworks experience, which is free to the public except for people who want VIP packages.
The changes include a park and ride system in Kingston which allows attendees the option to park at secure parking lots and be shuttled to and from the event.
The VIP experience has also been enhanced with the addition of the ‘Sky Party’ located at Ocean 7, Victoria Pier which will provide guests with an enviable view of the fireworks.
VIP Sky tickets are $8,500 for adults, $15,000 for couples and $4,000 for children.
The standard VIP front row admission is also available for those who wish to be closer to the stage.
Those tickets will cost $7000 for adults, $12,000 for couples and $3000 for children.
Tickets can be purchased at the UDC's Head Office.
