Finance and the Public Service Minister Dr Nigel Clarke will, on March 7, make his maiden presentation to the Budget Debate in Gordon House, the seat of Jamaica’s Parliament. He will close the debate on March 20.

On February 13, Parliament will prorogue, after which the Estimates of Expenditure will be tabled at around 2 p.m. the following day. However, before the tabling of the estimates, Governor General Sir Patrick Allen will deliver the Throne Speech in the morning, signalling the start of the 2019-2020 parliamentary year.

Parliament’s Standing Finance Committee is expected to deliberate on the Estimates of Expenditure on March 4 and 5.

On March 12, Opposition Spokesman on Finance Mark Golding will respond to Clarke’s presentation.

Opposition Leader Dr Peter Phillips will contribute to the debate on March 14, followed by Prime Minister Andrew Holness on March 19.
