BUFF BAY, Portland:

A male person of interest who was picked up on Wednesday in Buff Bay, Portland, by senior investigators probing the murder of East Portland Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Lynvale Bloomfield has been released.

The person of interest was released on Thursday afternoon after being held overnight by investigators attached to the Major Investigation Division.

Investigators collected statements from the person of interest, who, according to them, was cooperative throughout several hours of intense interrogation, which also linked him to several conversations that had been retrieved from a cell phone belonging to the late MP.

Additionally, investigators said that audio recordings from the MP’s main cell phone also indicated that several demands had been made by the person of interest, including for money, a cell phone, and a car.

The nude body of the MP was found at his Passley Gardens home in East Portland, with multiple stab wounds, shortly before 10 a.m. on February 2.

A helper who arrived for work at the MP’s home made the gruesome discovery along with a gardener.
