RADA gets new chairman
Agriculture specialist Nigel Myrie is the new chairman of the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA).
Myrie replaces Michael Stern as chairman of the agency.
J.C. Hutchinson, minister without portfolio in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce Agriculture and Fisheries, told The Gleaner yesterday that Stern had resigned but did not offer any explanation for his resignation.
“The changes took place when Minister [Audley] Shaw was appointed,” Hutchinson pointed out.
Myrie, The Gleaner has been told, had been acting as chairman of RADA since the departure of Stern but was confirmed in the post a week ago.
Myrie is a past president of the Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce and also sits on the board of the National Irrigation Commission.
He is the third person appointed to chair RADA since the Andrew Holness administration took office in 2016.
