Get well soon, senators tell Patterson
Former Prime Minister P.J. Patterson successfully underwent hip-replacement surgery yesterday at the Tony Thwaites Wing of The University Hospital of the West Indies in St Andrew.
The procedure was without complication.
Patterson suffered injury in a motor vehicle accident at his Norbrook home late Monday evening.
Yesterday, leaders on both sides of the parliamentary divide in the Upper House expressed best wishes for a successful surgery and the speedy recovery of the former prime minister.
“We ask for your prayers and your good wishes,” Donna Scott-Mottley, leader of opposition business in the Senate, said in reaching out to her colleagues on the motion of adjournment.
Kamina Johnson Smith, leader of government business, expressed sympathy to the family and friends of Patterson.
Echoing the sentiments of his colleagues, Senate President Tom Tavares-Finson asked the clerk to the Houses of Parliament, Heather Cooke, to convey the sympathy of the senators to Patterson in writing.
