Frustrated at dragged-out divorce

I sought the legal advice and service of a popular law firm on Holborn Road in New Kingston to process my divorce since January 2013. I am very weary of the process and I can't believe it's going to be a two-year process to get a divorce in Jamaica.

I emailed the law firm recently and this was its reply:

"We have been unable to proceed, as we still await the perfected decree nisi from the Supreme Court. The perfected decree nisi will take process to the preliminary stage of the divorce proceedings.

I have been making regular checks with the Supreme Court to ascertain the status. My most recent was on October 15, 2014 [when] I spoke with a Ms McDonald, who told me that the file is currently with the registrar, who is conducting checks.

We filed the nisi document on May 22, 2013 and are awaiting the judge to review the file and add his/her signature. Once the judge has signed the nisi document, we will have to await six weeks before we can prepare the final document, the decree absolute, and file same at the Supreme Court. Again we will have to await the judge to sign it. Once this is done, your divorce will be completed.

I will continue to follow-up ... ."

I need this divorce in order to get my entire family here in the US.

I need help to get my case processed. I am totally frustrated with this process. What can I do?
