'Logistics Hub is within our capacity to accomplish'

The following is an excerpt from the late president of Jamaica Chamber of Commerce, Francis Kennedy, on the necessity for the Jamaica Logistics Hub.

The proposed transformation of Jamaica into a world-class logistics centre is unquestionably the most ambitious and far-

reaching project on which this nation has been engaged since

we became an independent

state more than 50 years ago.

If implemented effectively, this repositioning of Jamaica will favourably impact individuals and firms at all levels and, in the process, provide a major and long-term platform for growth in virtually all areas of our economy.

The Jamaica Chamber of Commerce is unequivocally supportive of the Logistics Hub Initiative.

The Jamaican economy

must, in our view, undergo the long-overdue shift from being primarily inward-looking to an economy that is fully integrated into global value and supply chains.

It is a major task but one that is within our capacity to accomplish.
