Why is JPS upset?

Published:Saturday | January 10, 2015 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Why for the life of me, I am wondering, should the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) be upset that the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) has forced them to reduce the rate on electricity to the consuming public? This monopoly has to stop!

If the OUR did not step in and act like a bully to them, this would not have happened. This high rate that the JPS is charging is part and parcel of why businesses do not see Jamaica as a place to do business with, as the electricity rates are too high. The JPS needs competition and the public pocketbook needs a break.

The JPS does not care one bit about its customers; all they are interested in is their big profit margin.
