Holness shreds Constitution, must resign
THE EDITOR, Sir:
As Andrew Holness himself has admitted, he had erred in the matter of these signed and undated resignation letters and, in so doing, rendered himself unfit to continue as the leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition.
Mr Holness must have measured or appreciated the consequences of his action and, if he didn't, he has no business continuing as leader of the Opposition. Political leadership, like any other form of leadership, comes with responsibilities that must be discharged with honesty and competence.
It is now doubtful whether Mr Holness fully appreciates what he has done to the integrity of Jamaica's Constitution. If he did, he would have resigned when the judgment of the Constitutional Court was made known to him.
Mr Holness has successfully, and with every passing day, placed our democracy in serious jeopardy by seriously weakening the credibility of his party as an alternative government.
I beg and beseech Mr Holness to resign as leader of the Opposition.
