LETTER OF THE DAY: A prayer for Andrew

Opposition leader Andrew Holness, making his contribution to the Budget debate in Parliament on Wednesday.

A prayer for Andrew

The budget presentation by Leader

of the Opposition Andrew Holness in the House of Preparative on the Thursday was an excellent contribution in which he touched on topics that really affect the lives of the average man. He managed to do so with compassion.

I often hear people saying that our politicians really don't care about the

average Jamaican. Many believe that politicians serve only to benefit themselves and their families. However, as I sat and listened to Mr Holness, I felt comforted.

In his contribution, he presented to the Government what he learnt from everyday people he has met. That is what a leader should do. A leader should always keep people at the forefront of their thoughts.

As a member of the Anglican church, I call on other churches to pray a little harder for our leaders, because they have a heavy task to contend with every day. When they make errors, continue to put them before God with a heart of forgiveness, love compassion and gratitude.

Mr Holness, I use this medium to congratulate you on a wonderful presentation. Keep up the good work, because prayers are going up for you. May Almighty God bless and keep you and all the people of Jamaica.
