Don't mind detractors, O'Hara

THE EDITOR, Sir:

It is unfortunate that many persons who have come out swinging at Calabar and Jamaican super youth athlete Michael O’Hara after his 'extraordinary' achievement at Boys and Girls Championships this year.

These persons have forgotten that O’Hara won four gold medals at the championships, a feat that is very hard to achieve. This young man has accomplished a lot in his career thus far as a junior athlete, with much more to come. It has been seen that he is a very hard worker and has dedicated much to getting where he is now. He is a CARIFTA champion, a World Youth and Junior champion and a multiple-time boys champion here.

It would have been more beneficial for these detractors to join companies such as Digicel in supporting youth programmes, initiatives and individuals that foster and nurture the growth and development of our future stars. Word of advice to O’Hara: continue to “be extraordinary.”
