All's fair in love and war
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Much like LIME, I am still in shock over what Digicel did at Champs on Saturday as I watched it on TV. However, all is fair in love and war.
Digicel and LIME have been at odds for more than a decade and it has always been the consumers who benefited in the end. In this case, it was very entertaining for us as viewers.
But if my memory permits, I think LIME has played this game for many years.
One of the most memorable activities was an event that Digicel had in Half-Way Tree where, in the middle of it, I could suddenly hear nothing that was happening on the stage because LIME had someone flying over the location in branded paraphernalia. Needless to say, we were all in awe and thought it was totally cool.
Even more recently, many of us would remember the LIME MVP ads that were a direct spoof of one of Digicel's campaigns, which was also totally entertaining.
As a consumer, I find these entertaining, and I always just sit back and wait to see who will pull something else out of the hat.
LIME has simply received a stronger dose of its own medicine and it's all very entertaining for me. I wish this was tied to a product, because I know Jamaicans would surely benefit from some kind of price cut.
Mr Editor, all is fair in love and war.
