Arscott must follow Edwards' lead

The faux pas demonstrated by Jennifer Edwards in her handling of the management and resources of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) and the Riverton dump, her consequent sacking by the board chairman, Steve Ashley, and the politically-motivated interference by the portfolio minister, Noel Arscott, is drama at its best, but is definitely no laughing matter.

While I will not lay the blame solely at Edwards' feet for the disordered conditions which encumber the effective operations of the NSWMA, it was her lamentable failure to lobby her minister and the ministry for tools which were necessary to competently and effectively deal with the business of the NSWMA.

The mere fact that Edwards was negligent in taking any reasonable steps to mitigate, or even articulate her attempts to do anything that could be considered an effort, was enough to send her packing.

Edwards did not get her walking papers fast enough for her poor handling of this national disgrace, and Arscott must use common sense and act on his own volition and resign or be kicked through the door as well.
