People's Report: Fix roads, clear bush in Bogue Heights
Through your Gleaner's People's Report edition, I would like to appeal to the mayor of Montego Bay, Councillor Glendon Harris, and the St James Parish Council to immediately ensure that a few streets in our Bogue Heights area, namely, Malcolm Drive, Comet Drive and Julie Crescent, which were recently (three weeks ago) being repaired, meaning that some potholes on those streets were filled with marl and have not been asphalted and patched.
Therefore, if the rains come, those marl-filled potholes will be fully washed out and a waste of taxpayers' monies. Those three streets should be fully repaired and repaved. I am requesting that the mayor proceeds to ensure that they are repaired and not left half done, as is the current case.
The entire community needs to be cleaned and cleared of bush while the Bogue Hill community needs a vocational and educational training centre. Nothing productive has been done by the parish council to address the declining levels of infrastructure in the Bogue Hill, Bowen Hill, Ramble Hill and Wales Pond areas.
The Bogue Heights roads have been in a deplorable state for the past 10 years. We need the mayor to complete the road repair work he has started on the above-named roads and complete the job immediately. I have invested heavily in my home and would like the mayor to upgrade the infrastructure in the area and ensure that it is maintained.
The Bogue sewage ponds have also been affecting us Bogue Heights residents over many years because of the obnoxious and unhealthy smell that emanates from those ponds daily. The mayor and Member of Parliament Sharon Ffolkes Abrahams need to take some action and deal with this significant problem.
Over to you, Mayor Glendon Harris and MP!
