Thanks to our garbage collectors and farmers

Fay Bangerter

I would like to extend my gratitude and thanks to those men in our society who carry out one of the most menial jobs - garbage collection.

It is not a glamorous calling, but someone has to do it, and fortunately there are persons who opt to do so. We only realise how we take this service for granted when the trash piles up at our gates and the stench becomes unbearable.

Our farmers are also to be commended for their efforts in feeding us. Life is not easy for them. They have to deal with bad roads (or no roads), water problems, pests and disease, risk of hurricane, flood, fire or drought, praedial larceny, fluctuation in market prices and rising costs of fertilisers and insecticides.

Our Creator, Yahweh, has provided us with a vast array of fruit and vegetables for which we should not forget to be thankful, and we should also remember to pray for, and thank, our farmers for their hard work.
