Crawford's self-praise distasteful
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I am writing this letter to make reference to a post that was made on Facebook on May 6, 2015, by Damion Crawford, member of parliament and junior tourism minister. In that said post, Mr Crawford wrote: "Is this Miami or is it Harbour View ... Roads not touched for 23 years since Eric Bell."
Mr MP, please get your information correct. What are you saying? Is it that over the years, the other MPs for East Rural St Andrew did nothing for the constituency? These included members of your own party - the People's National Party. Are you saying that Roy McGann, Emerson 'Ginard' Barrett and Oliver Clue failed miserably during their tenures as MPs? Are you saying that no road repairs were done under their leadership for the constituency?
I believe that is not only an incorrect and misleading statement you have as your caption, but one that you should seek to correct hastily.
Remember that these MPs had access to limited resources, which they made use of in the constituency during their reign. Remember also that the work done in a constituency is carried out for the members of that particular constituency and, as such, no MP should take self-praise for any work done in his/her constituency.
