Proper Parking for CPL Sabina Park Night Matches

Published:Friday | May 15, 2015 | 5:00 AM

The lights are up and running and night cricket is set to kick off at Sabina Park when the 2015 Caribbean Premier League cricket season begins this June.

The issue of parking becomes even more crucial as fans will have to find secure parking at night.

For years cricket fans have been left at the mercy of locals who turn gas stations, open lots, side streets and private yards into parking lots. They charge whatever they feel like and offer little in the form of security for either person or property.

There are at least three schools with huge playfields and yard space in close proximity to the stadium. These could be the solution to the long-standing problem. There are also many huge open lots in the area showing 'For sale' signs.

The management of Sabina Park is no doubt still patting itself on the back for getting the lights up, but this is no time to celebrate half an achievement. Proper parking must be put in place now.
