US exporting buggery to Jamaica

Published:Friday | May 22, 2015 | 5:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The Jamaica Coalition for a Healthy Society (JCHS) refers to the announcement by the US State Department of the visit to Jamaica from May 21-23, by US Special Envoy for the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Persons, Randy Berry. Also expected to visit is USAID senior LGBT coordinator, Todd Larson, from May 20-23.

At Mr Berry's appointment, US Secretary of State John Kerry asserted that "defending and promoting the human rights of LGBT persons is at the core of our commitment to advancing human rights globally - the heart and conscience of our diplomacy. That's why we're working to overturn laws that criminalise consensual same-sex conduct in countries around the world."

In other words, Messrs Berry and Larson are here to get the Jamaican Government and people to accept that all sexual activities are to be considered as normal and good. This is the US foreign policy: exporting buggery and sexual confusion.

In light of this visit, all Jamaicans need to know the following:

n The visit of Messrs Berry and Larson is contemptuous of our national sovereignty as expressed by the views of 91 per cent of our people. The visit represents a new form of imperialism bullying vulnerable nations to accept a lifestyle that is illogical and demonstrably harmful to our society, and particularly to our children.

n New 'rights' have not resulted in the decrease of HIV/AIDs among men who have sex with men (MSM) in the USA (CDC, 2011).

n HIV rates among MSM are reported to be 140 times the rate among heterosexual men. (Journal of AIDS, 2011)

n HIV rates of up to 64.7% among some black MSM. (NYC Health, 2011)

n Disturbingly, 98% of the difference in HIV rates between MSM and heterosexuals is due to the practice of anal receptive intercourse and role reversal (i.e. the capability of MSM to be both the receptive and inserting partner). (Lancet 2012)

Jamaica's children are already suffering from the effects of poor family life. We do not need to add the further harms of experimenting with same-sex parenting.

The JCHS firmly states that Jamaica must not sell out to a US administration which has been Bought Out by LGBT activists.
