Call it a day, Chanderpaul
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Shivnarine Chanderpaul should know when to retire and circumvent this embarrassment. It is time for Chanderpaul to hang up his gloves and call it quits.
This is a man who has served West Indies cricket selflessly for 21 years. To walk away like a man is all the board is asking Shiv to do. There comes a time when age and time do not permit one to perform to the best of one's ability again.
To outstrip Brian Lara's runs is a major milestone, but it is not the most important thing to the board.
It should never have to come to this pathetic situation where persons are asking him to quit because he has overstayed his welcome.
We don't want to undermine Shiv, but he needs to follow protocol.
