Doubting Dick needs a miracle himself
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I read with amusement the faithless article ('Miracles in the Church?') by the Reverend Devon Dick in The Gleaner of June 11, 2015. He clearly has no faith and clearly has no idea how faith is exercised. I pity the poor members of his congregation over which he has pastoral care.
I invite him to spend a day in the Universal Church so he may learn what faith is, how it works, and how to build it.
Jesus said, according to your faith, it shall be done unto you. He also said if you have faith and doubt not, you can move mountains.
Rev Dick's confession of undiluted doubt perhaps explains why there are no miracles reported in his church.
Jesus said in the Gospel of John that we will do what he did and perform even greater works.
So Mr Dick's disbelief of the power of the Holy Spirit inside a faith-filled believer is just a manifestation of the sad state of the Church today.
