People's Report: Indiscipline, crime wrecking MoBay

Published:Saturday | June 20, 2015 | 12:16 AM

The monster of indiscipline, which has become the order of the day in Montego Bay and the rest of western Jamaica, is causing too much pain and anguish for numerous families whose relatives are being moved down unnecessarily.

No doubt, many well-thinking Montegonians and rural folks are wondering why this problem of indiscipline has crept into the tourist Mecca of Montego Bay and its environs, including rural communities, creating such havoc.

Regrettably, an increasing number of adults and youngsters are getting involved in violent acts such as drive-by murders, brazen daylight robberies, callous rapes, and child abuse, among other undisciplined behaviours.

Clearly, the increase in heinous crimes in Montego Bay and rural communities is hampering the city's economic growth and causing a demoralising effect on the citizenry.

However, it is heart-warming that SSP Steve McGregor's no-nonsense approach seems to be heading in the right direction.
