Sound of music again at the Ward

Published:Saturday | July 4, 2015 | 7:00 AM

I attended the Kingston on the Edge (KOTE) Concert at The Ward Theatre on Sunday, June 28, facilitated by The Ward Theatre Foundation. Featured were Cecilia de Toledo-Schmillen, Chilean opera singer and wife of the German Ambassador, Earl 'Chinna' Smith Nyabinghi Drummers, Steven Woodham, OD, classical violinist, Roger Williams, concert pianist, and more.

The music was a merging of classics, opera with our own Jamaican drumming and guitar playing - a unique blend that showed the expanse of our talent in Jamaica. This was clearly appreciated by Cecilia de Toledo-Schmillen, who has embraced our musical talent and regales it.

Kingston Mayor Angela Brown Burke and Minister of Tourism Dr Wykeham McNeill attended and were visually fully engaged and in support.

New life was breathed into The Ward as the sounds of music filled the theatre. Joyful!
