Give credit to Sandiford

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Your front-page story last Sunday stated that the social partnership in Barbados was established in 1993 by former Prime Minister Owen Arthur.

Undoubtedly, Mr Arthur was demonstrably committed to, and advanced, the social partnership during his time in office. However, it must be noted that the social partnership was actually established in 1991 during the administration of Prime Minister Erskine Sandiford, whom Mr Arthur succeeded in September 1994 and to whom appropriate credit is due.
