Ban radios, video players from buses, taxis

THE EDITOR, Sir : The daughter of Robin Small, talk-show host, called in to relate a troubling occurrence in the Jamaican society.

I heard her painful recounting of her family’s exposure to the lewd, loud music and raunchy videos on our public transport.

Her pre-teen son was traumatised by the pornographic lyrics and visual. All this happened as her car was out of service and they had to resort to this public offering.

Minister of transport, commissioner of police, minister of education, educators, parents, civil society stakeholders, move now for the removal of all radios and video-playing from the public transport system!

For too long, our children have been prematurely sexualised and overexposed.

Is there any wonder the problem we have with teenage promiscuity and early pregnancies?

The Government responded with alacrity in removing preachers from the bus, but this matter of legislating against dirty, loud music and visuals is left hanging.Act now to save our children.
