Expecting improved service from Liberty
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I am hoping that the acquisition of FLOW by Liberty Global Communications, the largest cable TV company in the world, will lead to better and improved services for our telecommunications industry.
Consumers like me have been complaining about a fall-off in service over the last two years, including frequent dropped calls, slow Internet service and serious customer-service issues.
It is likely that economies of scale and better and more in-depth and experienced management will improve the services on offer. I am also grateful that FLOW had the decency to be upfront and frank with consumers as it sought to address issues on its side.
I have watched as Jamaica's telecommunications industry has grown over these many years. We have made some progress, but I believe we are at the point now where larger entities and a rapidly consolidating industry worldwide will push us to offer more for less with higher levels of quality and consistency.
