Accept Cameron's prison gift
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Prisoners are to be treated well, and the Government has a responsibility to ensure that their needs for good health care, personal safety, and adequate housing are adequately funded. Currently, the existing conditions in the prisons are unsatisfactory.
Conservative British Prime Minister David Cameron's offer to provide some financial assistance to build a new prison in Jamaica is a gesture that ought not to be ignored. And despite the collective 'outcry' by the critics, the man's heart is in the right place. I consider his offer a symbolic gesture of compassion that is unmatched by any of our own political leaders.
