Congrats, Chris Gayle
THE EDITOR, Sir:
We say hearty congratulations to Chris Gayle for achieving another milestone. This awesome stalwart has become the first batsman to hit 600 sixes in Twenty/20 cricket, during the Melbourne Renegades' Big Bash league game at the Gabba a few days ago.
Since his inclusion in the game of glorious uncertainties, this youngster has created a great impact on the game of cricket, and has influenced many cricket lovers with his powerful and aggressive batting style. Gayle, no doubt, is a great destroyer when he is on the go and feels like it; and a lovely sight to watch.
Former West Indies fast bowler Michael Holding once said this about Chris Gayle, and I will paraphrase a little: "If he was more consistent, he could have broken more records than his triple centuries, because he has the potential and the ability, and is capable of excelling to a great cricketer".
Even though Chris is so unreliable, his presence in a match, or, if and when he is selected to play for his team, it's like heaven came down because he can really do wonders when he gets going. And he is truly loved and respected by many.
We wish him all the best, and we do hope that he will continue hitting more long sixes, break more records and reach more milestones before he retires.
