Name, shame bad gas sources

Published:Wednesday | January 6, 2016 | 1:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The contaminated gas that has affected many motorists across the island warrants Minister of Energy Phillip Paulwell publicly naming those gas stations that were found to be selling bad gas to motorists and inform us as well which, if any, marketing company has been involved in this scandal. The ordeal has cost motorists millions of dollars to effect motor vehicle repairs over the past three weeks.

The Bureau of Standards, as well, has fallen down on the job of regularly testing gasolene for appropriate quality across the island's gas stations. The management should be forthwith sacked for their blatant incompetence and being ineffective in carrying out their respective duties.

Operators who are involved in the illegal trading of substandard gasolene should be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted.

Heavy fines and other penalties should be implemented against service stations and petrol-distribution companies who sell bad gasolene to motorists.
