Why blowback against Pastor Glen Samuels?
THE EDITOR, Sir:
As I watched the National Leadership Prayer Breakfast, my thoughts were that we need a more inclusive approach. This programme should embrace a wider cross section with a mass prayer meeting at the National Stadium.
This country is in need of more prayer and fasting, alongside improved systems of governance and economic programmes. So hearing Pastor Glen Samuels' thought-provoking, hard-hitting and relevant sermon, I am taken aback at his detractors. Is it that he stepped on toes and has disturbed their agenda?
We have become so ultra-sensitive that before one speaks, it must pass the litmus test for not being racist, sexist, classist, or homophobic in nature. Mass communication is definitely under threat.
To the opinion leaders and 'big' thinkers, with this $5 chatter - stop attacking the messenger. Some of you have mortgaged properties, obtained multimillion-dollar loan agreements to send off your daughters to Ivy League universities, or close. The objective being to ensure that their brains are pricier than their headgear.
Let us, therefore, challenge the females of this country to get their priorities right, and, even if they are intellectually strong, still save for rainy days.
To Pastor Samuels, continue the crusade with zeal and boldness in the face of opposition. No retreat.
