Continue surveys for bad gas

I listened to a section of the forum on the bad gas episode aired by Nationwide Radio FM Thursday evening. On the basis of what I heard, service stations are still dispensing contaminated gas and there is no immediate remedy in sight.

For this reason, I am writing to submit some suggestions for the Government's consideration.

1. The Bureau of Standards Jamaica should continue its testing and publish a weekly summary of its findings, by general area, giving the public information such as the number and percentage of storage tanks and stations tested, and those found with contaminated gas.

2. Leave the marketers to protect the integrity of their respective brands as they will certainly take all steps necessary to guard against loss of their reputations and market share.

3. Regardless of the motive for the questions raised by a senator from the Opposition (and I don't know what his motive was) take extra special care to ensure that supplies of aviation fuel are always tested and found compliant as the attendant risks are just too high for Jamaica's reputation.
