It was our pleasure to attend the 75th season of the National Pantomime in Jamaica. Here in England, the Pantomime (when the production is given this classification) is always based on traditional tales like Sleeping Beauty, Jack and the Beanstalk and Cinderella, so plot lines are not always totally original. There is also the usual punch line of "it's behind you!", which the audience is encouraged to chant at intervals.

We rather like our original Jamaican Pantomime, which got us wondering what it would be about before we left. We were curious to see the interesting takes on modern dance and experience the interesting costumes. Maybe some day the Little Theatre Movement (LTM) could think about bringing the production to England. The Jamaican, and even British, crowd would like it.

Thanks to the LTM and its dedicated team led by Barbara Gloudon for helping to preserve Jamaica's cultural heritage.
