Happy that car tax concession scrapped

I am one of the happiest Jamaicans you can find at this time. This happiness is because of an article I read in The Gleaner of February 15, 2016, titled 'Political parties mum on loss of import concession', which indicated that the political parties, the People's National Party and the Jamaica Labour Party, will not be getting the customary 20 per cent duty concession for vehicles used for election campaigning.

In September 2015, as a concerned citizen, I submitted through your esteemed paper some measures to safeguard the revenue. The Government seems to have taken a more drastic step than was proposed.

I am sure that the candidates are disappointed, but none more so than a used-car dealership with this decision, in that the opportunity to cheat revenue has been dashed.

I applaud this decision wholeheartedly.
