Call National Day of Prayer, Mr PM

Published:Saturday | March 5, 2016 | 12:00 AM

I would like to congratulate Andrew Holness and the Jamaica Labour Party for winning at the polls in the general election on February 25, 2016.

Mr Prime Minister, I want to say to you and your team that this is the hand of God, sending a message to our beautiful country, Jamaica, land we love.

As a God-fearing leader, please remember God's words to Solomon in 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

It is upon this premise that I encourage you to call a National Day of Prayer to give thanks and praise to the Almighty God for giving your team another opportunity to sit in the seat of government and beseech Him that He will guide you all to provide good governance to the people of our beautiful country.

Mr Prime Minister, I am sure the Jamaica Umbrella Group of Churches will be pleased and willing to assist in the planning of such a venture. You could call upon the leaders of this group to decide on the undertakings of this event, which could be held at different locations islandwide at a date and time agreed on.

Based upon our national anthem, we all need to seek God's guidance into the path to sustained prosperity. As the psalmist quotes in Psalm 33:12, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord and the people whom He hath chosen for His inheritance." Let us claim our inheritance by seeking His face.

May God, the creator of this universe, bless and prosper your tenure of governance over this lovely piece of real estate, Jamaica.

May God bless you always.
