Unify IDs

under voter registration car

The election is now behind us, and as a nation, we must move forward to ensure that every citizen who can vote will be able to do so. The issue of being registered to vote must be of uttermost importance, especially in the light of a very low voter turnout. Having spoken to approximately six persons prior to this election, it was discovered that they did not have an elector registration card.

It would be to the advantage of every citizen to be issued with an elector registration card as soon as he or she is old enough to apply for a Tax Registration Number. As a matter of fact, it would make life much easier for everyone if there was only one card with the same number, including photograph and fingerprint. This card could be used for paying taxes, voting and any other form of identification, thus, minimising impersonation and fraud. This could also become that person's passport and driver's licence number as long as the person is alive.

By making the process of registration simpler, this might increase more citizen participation and, perhaps, be more economical in the long run.
