Happy All Fools' Day

Published:Friday | April 1, 2016 | 4:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

'Tom drunk but Tom nuh fool' is a popular Jamaican saying that is quite profound.

The first of April is traditionally regarded as All Fools' Day. On this day, many have fun fooling and pulling pranks on those who may be unaware. But how easy is it to fool people; or are people easily fooled?

Abraham Lincoln taught us: You can fool some people all the time, you can even fool all the people some of the time; but you can't fool all the people all the time.

Worthy of note, also, is that German dictator Adolf Hitler once boasted that it was quite fortunate for leaders that the majority of people don't think! Mmmmh, very interesting. One wonders how many leaders today may be having this very same thought.

Well, let's leave it there. Enough said.
