Higgins' column was splendid
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Orville Higgins' column, 'The Dave Cameron lynch mob' (Gleaner, April 8, 2016) was splendid and timely, particularly as the same edition's Letter of the Day is in support of the baying mob. Further, the Sports section carries the views of Ramnaresh Sarwan and others in support.
Perhaps, to sort of even the field, Orville could do an article regarding the part the former president, or whatever, of the West Indies Players' Association (WIPA) had in creating the atmosphere that soured the working relationship between the board and the players, and even between the players themselves.
Some commentators seem to have forgotten that in the glory days, there was no WIPA with which to contend. The idea, in those days, of a strike or walk-off, as happened in India, was unthinkable.
