Further salary increase coming for early-childhood teachers
Early-childhood education teachers are to receive a further 15 per cent salary increase this year.
State Minister of Education, Youth and Information, Floyd Green says the pay rise was approved by Cabinet in April.
He says the teachers have benefitted from increases of similar amounts over the last two years.
The salary increase to the early-childhood teachers is among measures being implemented to strengthen the sector.
Green was addressing the launch of Sagicor Foundation’s 2016 Adopt-A-School Programme in New Kingston yesterday.
The programme aims to provide financial, infrastructural and development support for needy early-childhood institutions.
This year, the programme will focus on 10 schools and benefit 1,000 students.
