Higgins knows squat about basketball
THE EDITOR, Sir:
It's great that Orville Higgins could repeat, in his Gleaner column of Friday, May 13, 2016 ('Veterans envious of Curry?'), some stats and some quotes that are all over the Internet. That was not a journalistic effort. Any schoolkid could do the cut-and-paste job Higgins did for this article.
By not offering up an opinion on his own question, Higgins gets to continue hiding his lack of basketball knowledge. To listen to him try talk basketball on the radio is a joke! I am sure he cannot explain high vs low post without the help of the Internet. After all, this is the guy who spent weeks trying to convince people that Shaq was a better shooter than Reggie Miller and still does not understand why some players are termed 'shooters' vs 'scorers'.
Higgins is a basketball imposter. I'm sure ESPN would make Steven A. Smith available to KLAS if Higgins wanted to have a good basketball conversation. Then Jamaica would certainly see that Higgins knows very little about the game of basketball.
But for now, since Jamaica is not a basketball-savvy country, the one-eyed man will remain king.
