Zero tolerance for cops too

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I am writing this letter to ask the powers that be to adopt the same zero tolerance against the police officers who operate and own public transportation vehicles that do not have the requisite licenses to operate on the road.

There are too many public transportation vehicles on the road that are owned by police officers and as such the operators of these vehicles feel as if they are untouchable and can drive and do as they please on our roads with total disregard for pedestrians and motorists. Because of this I would ask for the following to be done:

Any police officer who is found to be in breach of the road traffic act should be brought up on charges and dismissed from the Jamaica Constabulary Force as they must be held to higher standard.

Why should ordinary citizens comply when they disregard the rules?
