Well done Colin Campbell

I wish to congratulate former managing director of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) Colin Campbell for the hardworking manner in which he performed throughout his tenure for close to three years.

A Sunday Gleaner column written by Garnett Roper recently pointed to the plethora of successes that Mr Campbell had at the JUTC over the period. Revenue inflows were increased, the Smarter Card and frequent travel discounts were put into place, new buses were purchased and put into the fleet, theft of bus parts were greatly reduced, and a loss-prevention manager was appointed - former senior superintendent Radcliffe Lewis.

In addition, more buses were sent to Montego Bay, JUTC managers were all trained and certified as bus drivers, all drivers and conductors were further trained in customer service, and drivers underwent a defensive driving course.

I recognised the fact that the JUTC under Campbell's leadership was significantly-reformed into an efficient, on time and more professional service which enabled the company to improve in a positive way.
