Homosexuality contrary to God's law
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I am offended and annoyed to know that the rainbow flag was raised at the US Embassy in Kingston. The rainbow flag is not a representation of any country; it is a representation of the LGBT lifestyle.
We as Jamaicans, and those of us who embrace Christian values, have a right to speak out against such an act. It clearly shows great disrespect for the Jamaican people. These Americans act as if they represent the authority wherever they go.
The immoral aspect of these people's behaviour is so played down, it is becoming frightening. Are we not concerned anymore about how God feels about these people's lifestyle?
I honestly believe that we need to use this and call people to repentance. We need to know that God's grace is for all mankind. This grace instructs us to give up wrongdoing. Titus 2:11-13 reads: "For God has revealed His grace for the salvation of the whole human race. That grace instructs us to give up ungodly living and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this world, as we wait for the blessed day we hope for when the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ will appear."
Many people are trying to make out grace to be a licence to sin. But the Holy Scriptures say in Romans 6: 1-2: "Should we continue to live in sin so that God's grace will increase? Certainly not! We have died to sin; how then can we go on living in it?"
In Titus, it is clear that when God's grace is revealed to all the human race, its purpose was for us to give up ungodly living. Romans 2: 6-7 reads: "For God will reward every person according to what each has done. Some people keep on doing good, and seek glory, honour, and immortal life, to them God will give eternal life. Other people are selfish and reject what is right, in order to follow what is wrong; on them God will pour out His anger and fury."
In light of this Scripture, I am appealing to all who read this letter to know that a life of sin without true repentance will result in punishment. Let us take heed.
